Mayoral Team Richard Daley & Rahm Emanuel Oppose Right-to-Carry

National Rifle Association

FAIRFAX, Va. --(Ammoland.com)- In an unsurprising move, two of Chicago’s most prominent, and most anti-gun, politicians joined forces with a coalition of gun ban groups to oppose Right-to-Carry in Illinois.

Illinois is one of only two remaining states that deny citizens the ability to carry firearms for self-defense.

Mayor Richard Daley (D) and mayor-elect Rahm Emanuel (D-whose most recent job was President Obama’s chief of staff) resorted to the usual blather to demonstrate their opposition to qualified, law-abiding Illinoisans being able to protect themselves and their loved ones.

(Daley opined in his statement, “This bill must be defeated. Allowing concealed handguns in Illinois can turn the simplest everyday activities into dangerous situations.”)

However, it was one particular line in Daley’s statement that really shows how much he just doesn’t get it. From the mayor’s statement:

“Daley said the United States is flooded with guns. There are more than 280 million privately owned firearms in the country — almost one per person. In an average year, those guns shoot or kill almost 100,000 people in America and more than 3,000 children and teenagers die from gun violence.” (Emphasis added)

“Those guns” do no such thing, Mr. Mayor. Individuals who wield and misuse firearms are the ones responsible for those shootings. Rather than blame the inanimate object, Illinois would be far better served by targeting the criminal breaking the law. In the meantime, we should respect and support the rights of law-abiding Illinoisans to carry firearms for protection against these thugs.

NRA members and supporters in Illinois should continue to contact their representatives in Springfield in support of House Bill 148, the NRA-supported Right-to-Carry bill introduced by state Representative Brandon Phelps (D-118). A final vote could be taken at any time. HB 148 represents the best opportunity we have had in many years to ensure the law-abiding residents of Illinois will be able to exercise their right to self-defense away from the home, and the NRA continues to support it.

CCRKBA Blasts Emanuel’s Proposed Illinois Gun Registration Scheme

BELLEVUE, WA – -(Ammoland.com)- Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s proposal to slap law-abiding Illinois gun owners with a handgun registration mandate that includes a $65 per-gun fee is “nothing more than a maneuver to discourage gun ownership in the face of court rulings that have gone against Chicago’s stubborn gun ban mentality,” the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms said today.

Under Emanuel’s proposal, any Illinois resident purchasing a handgun would be hit with the $65 registration requirement, which is over and above current statutory requirements that include possession of a Firearm Owner’s Identification (FOID) card.

“This is Rahm Emanuel’s childish strategy of striking back at the Second Amendment,” said CCRKBA Chairman Alan M. Gottlieb. “Chicago lost before the Supreme Court in the landmark McDonald case, and its horribly written handgun ordinance has also been rejected by a federal appeals court.

“Because he is on the losing end of the gun rights battle,” Gottlieb continued, “Mayor Emanuel now wants to take out his frustration on every law-abiding gun owner in Illinois. This is the kind of reaction one expects from a five-year-old throwing a temper tantrum, but it should be beneath the dignity of an adult who is supposed to be the leader of one of the nation’s largest cities.”

Emanuel claims that his measure is aimed at helping police, parents and community groups. But State Rep. Brandon Phelps, a Harrisburg Democrat, called the proposal a “slap in the face of every law-abiding gun owner.” Gottlieb concurs with that assessment.

“Rahm Emanuel is a both a product, and a philosophical poster child, of two anti-gun administrations,” he said. “He served in both the Clinton and Obama administrations, always as point man on gun control initiatives. He does not seem to grasp the reality that American citizens, including those living in Illinois, have a constitutionally-protected civil right to keep and bear arms for their personal protection.

“Mayor Emanuel’s crass effort to infringe on that right through legislative demagoguery is insulting and immature,” Gottlieb said. “This is the kind of behavior that continues to land Chicago in court, and pretty soon, taxpayers will grow tired of entertaining his anti-gun agenda with their dollars.”

With more than 650,000 members and supporters nationwide, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms is one of the nation’s premier gun rights organizations. Illinois State Rifle Association

Illinois --(Ammoland.com)- As many of you know, the Illinois House Executive Committee sent two extremely anti-gun bills to the floor yesterday:

HB5831 – this bill would tack a $65.00 tax on every hand gun you own and require you to register like a sex offender.

HB5167 – this bill would tack a 2% “Sin Tax” on all ammunition sales in the state with the proceeds from the tax going to a fund to help pay for a healthcare program for gang bangers and drug lords.

EACH OF THESE TWO BILLS HAVE ONE PURPOSE AND ONE PURPOSE ONLY – TO PUNISH LAW-ABIDING FIREARM OWNERS

The Emanuel/Obama gun haters aren’t being the least bit bashful about their intent, they have made it clear that they will “screw-over” gun owners by any means possible.

Senate bill morphs into Rahm Emanuel’s Gun Registration Scheme

Illinois --(Ammoland.com)- The Chicago Mayor’s efforts to punish Illinois gun owners for Chicago’s out of control crime problem continue in the Illinois Senate.

SB3625 – This bill would tack a $20.00 tax on every hand gun you own and require you to register like a sex offender.

THIS BILL HAS ONE PURPOSE AND ONE PURPOSE ONLY – TO PUNISH LAW-ABIDING FIREARM OWNERS

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel and State Sen. Antonio Muñoz (IL-1) are continuing their attacks on firearm ownership in Illinois. Monday, Senator Muñoz amended a bill to turn it into Emanuel’s handgun registration scheme, blaming law abiding Illinois handgun owners for his failure to control crime in Chicago.

This bill makes it a felony, equivalent to arson, to possess an ‘unregistered‘ handgun in the state and further punishes victims of crime through a ‘Lost or Stolen’ mandate, in other words, if you have your firearms stolen and don’t report it to the police in a ‘reasonable‘ amount of time, YOU will become the criminal. To them, owning a handgun without government permission is the same as burning someone’s house down.

The only purpose of this bill is to make firearm ownership more onerous and expensive for Illinois residents during a time of economic hardship. It will have no effect on criminals except to give them peace of mind knowing that fewer people will be able to defend themselves.

WHAT YOU CAN DO TO HELP PRESERVE AND PROTECT YOUR RIGHTS

  1. Contact your State Senator and politely inform him/her that you are a law-abiding firearm owner and that you do not support registering firearm owners like sex offenders. Tell him/her that you expect to see them vote AGAINST SB3625 if this antigun bill comes to the floor. NRA’s Wayne LaPierre on Standing Guard

NRA’s Wayne LaPierre

FAIRFAX, Va. --(Ammoland.com)- For anyone who doubts President Barack Obama’s dedication to a second-term all-out war on the Second Amendment, say just one name —Mayor Rahm Emanuelthe new boss of Chicago machine politics, tapped as the star co-chair for Obama’s re-election campaign.

Obama’s Chicago-based campaign manager characterized the mayor as key among those who “share the president’s vision of a future. …”

The focus of that Obama-Emanuel shared vision for the nation’s gun owners can be summed up in Emanuel’s pursuit of gun bans by any means.

This is no honorary job. It is real power linking Obama’s re-election with Emanuel’s fanaticism for destroying the Second Amendment.

Emanuel has spent his political life pressing for gun control—as policy advisor to President Bill Clinton, as a member of Congress, then as Obama’s White House chief of staff. As mayor of Chicago, he is doubling down on his vendetta against lawful gun owners. And as the most visible campaign co-chair, his efforts are unconditionally tied to Obama’s re-election agenda.

Days before his campaign appointment, Emanuel launched a vicious attack on law-abiding Illinois gun owners that was stunning even by Chicago standards. Blaming peaceable citizens for Chicago’s runaway criminal violence, Emanuel has demanded that Illinois firearm owners be forced to register their handguns at $65 a pop. Possession of an unregistered gun by ordinary citizens would be a felony. Further, gun owners would be required to re-register their firearms every five years, paying an additional $25 fee per-gun.

Failure to comply would be a criminal act.

Forget to renew your registration: go to jail. Move and fail to notify authorities within 72 hours: go to jail. Take your handgun to the range, but forget your registration certificate: go to jail.

As a final insult, the mayor is demanding a punitive or “sin tax” on all ammunition sales to pay for trauma wrought by violent Chicago criminals whom he is unable or unwilling to control.

In a Feb. 9, 2012 report headlined “Emanuel Calls For Statewide Gun Registry,” CBS in Chicago reported Emanuel as bragging, “I have a long history, both on the Brady Bill, assault weapon ban, and passing gun legislation.”

Boss Emanuel credited his draconian gun registration scheme to Rev. Michael Pfleger, a radical leftist whom Barack Obama once characterized in the Chicago Sun Times as being among his personal “spiritual advisors.”

What does Obama’s “spiritual advisor” say about the NRA? Try this from a guest sermon: “It’s a MIDNIGHT HOUR when gun manufacturers and distributors and the NRA under the disguise of rights to hunt, continue to market guns as part of America’s new wardrobe and continue to arm gangs and criminals out of back rooms and back alleys of our cities, and then … seek like Pilate to wash their hands of the responsibility and accountability, of their death dealing, that causes hearses to drive down the streets of our neighborhoods carrying the bodies of our children and they say ‘We are not guilty.’”

Speaking of death and murder, for those who don’t recall, it was Pfleger who called for the killing of a Chicago area gun store owner and threatened pro-gun Illinois legislators as targets to be “snuffed out.” In June 2007, leading a near-lynch-mob at that suburban gun store, Pfleger screamed for the violent demise of the licensed dealer:

We’re going to find you and snuff you out. … Like a rat you’re going to hide. But like a rat, we’re going to catch you and pull you out. … We’re going to snuff out John Riggio.” As for pro-gun rights state legislators: “We’re going to snuff out legislators that are voting against our gun laws. We’re coming for you because we’re not going to sit idly.”

For his clear threats of violence, there was no prosecution. Under the “Chicago Way,” Pleger’s call to “snuffing” is apparently protected.

And today, Rahm Emanuel’s in-your-face, Pfleger-inspired gun proposals are part and parcel to his being chosen as an Obama campaign major domo. This is the web of Chicago thug political connections that cannot be ignored. Know your enemies by the company they keep.

Among others tapped as campaign chairs who “each share the President’s vision” are a select group—“F-rated” gun-ban politicians, including U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin, D-IL and U.S. Rep. Jan Schakowsky, D-IL; Rhode Island Gov. Lincoln Chafee, I; California Attorney General Kamala Harris, D and Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick, D.

Guilt by association? You bet.

With all of the talk about “transparency,” one thing is truly clear—the web of lies spun about the president’s phony, claimed support of the Second Amendment. Obama’s vision of the Second Amendment and the vision of his fellow travelers, Pfleger and Boss Emanuel, is the one that disarmed the citizens of both Washington, D.C., and Chicago—the vision that says there is no individual right to keep and bear arms.

Every gun owner must be “All In” to defeat Barack Obama in the political fight of our generation this November 6—when all of our freedoms are on the line.

More of the Same as Anti-Gun Chicago Potentially Breaks Federal Law

National Shooting Sports Foundation

NEWTOWN, Conn --(Ammoland.com)- Chicago politicians have a long and consistent history of opposing the Second Amendment.

Their rigid anti-gun ideology ultimately resulted in the historic Supreme Court case, McDonald v. Chicago, which overturned Chicago’s handgun ban.

But local pols have not surrendered their anti-gun crusade.

And in order to further that agenda, according to a recent Chicago Sun-Times article, Chicago now has violated federal law.

The article explains that the Chicago Police Department (CPD) gave firearm trace information to the University of Chicago (U of C) Crime Lab to “analyze” and publish a report for the Department. The report concluded guns recovered from Chicago crimes were purchased outside of the city limits.

We don’t know how much the taxpayers of Chicago paid for this “report,” but it’s clear they didn’t get their money’s worth. It’s not rocket science behind the report findings, as there are no firearm retailers within Chicago city limits.

And given the anti-gun pedigree of the U of C Crime Lab, the legitimacy of the study itself in in serious question.

The executive director of the U of C Crime Lab, Roseanna Ander, has a long history of anti-gun advocacy. Ander’s served as co-chair of Mayor Emanuel’s Public Safety Transition Committee, head of the Joyce Foundation’s Gun Violence program, and as a Soros Justice Fellow in the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office. In fact, Chicago based Joyce Foundation is the leading funder of anti-gun advocacy groups in the country, with its largest beneficiary being the anti-gun Violence Policy Center.

This “study” was based in firearm trace data. When a firearm is confiscated at a crime scene or criminal arrest, a police department may forward information to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATF) to determine who made and sold the firearm. Agencies may also trace guns for reasons that have nothing to do with a criminal incident. BATF then sends back the information to the reporting agency so they can use it in a criminal case, if warranted.

Release of this data for anything other than a bona fide criminal investigation is prohibited by federal law, for very good reasons. The data used for this study should not have been released by CPD for a “published study” under current law. Doing so is a violation of the Tiahrt amendment —which was passed to protect the safety and privacy of law-abiding gun owners, police officers, witnesses, and gun dealers— by prohibiting agencies from releasing this information to non-law enforcement entities.

In fact, the pandemic of frivolous lawsuits against gun manufactures in the 1990’s stirred the need for such a law to protect privacy. It’s no surprise that Chicago was one of the cities to file such a suit, and their claims also involved trace data then, even though BATF itself has long maintained that trace data can’t be used to draw meaningful conclusions. Tiahrt was passed in response to these abuses. So in that sense, Chicago brought the privacy protections on trace data down upon itself.

Of course, Chicago politicians and bureaucrats have a long and extensive record of circumventing their citizens’ Second Amendment Rights, so this abuse is part of a pattern. Garry McCarthy, Superintendent of the Chicago PD learned the ropes under Mike Bloomberg in New York City. In Chicago, he called federal gun laws government-sponsored racism.

McCarthy is not alone. Mayor Rahm Emanuel has long harbored deep anti-gun beliefs, and was once identified as “our guy in the White House” by the Brady Campaign. He worked for Mayor Daly, served in the Clinton White House, sponsored anti-gun legislation in Congress, worked for the Obama Administration, and since becoming Mayor has pushed for more restrictions on law-abiding citizens in Illinois.

These attacks by anti-gun politicians and bureaucrats must stop. They must be held accountable for violating federal law. This release of trace data is not an isolated incident. Further transgressions can be corrected if Congress decides to add penalties to the prohibition against release of trace data.

Stand up against those who ignore the law to push their anti-gun agenda. Register to vote today, and make a change in November.

Illinois House Adjourns With No Movement On Gun Bills – But Do Not Be Misled

Illinois --(Ammoland.com)- As reported earlier, the House version of the Cullerton Gun Grab Bill was supposed to be debated before the House Judiciary Committee I at 2:00 PM today.

The Chairman of the committee convened the committee, announced that there would be no gun bills debated for the rest of the session, then adjourned.

From all appearances, this was the end of the push for gun control in the legislature this session. But, don’t be confused – the session ends Wednesday. There is nothing saying that the legislature couldn’t call the bills anyway. So, be on guard and watch for alerts from the ISRA.

Also, be advised that the newly elected legislature, the 98th General Assembly, gets gaveled into action on Wednesday as well. With several pro-gun stalwarts leaving the legislature, and several brand new gun grabbers to contend with, the next session of the General Assembly promises to be turbulent times for law-abiding gun owners. We will update you as issues arise.

In short, the entire ISRA lobbying staff would like to say “THANKS” to all those gun owners who stood up this week and told the General Assembly, “NO. . . you can’t take our guns!” The huge response and reaction by the gun-owning public is largely responsible for the failure on the part of Senate President John Cullerton to move his massive gun grab this week.

We really hate to sound like a broken record, but protecting your rights this past couple of weeks has severely depleted our cash reserves. We honestly don’t like going to the well this often, but we badly need your financial help or we will not be able to field a full staff of lobbyists next week. It would be great if everybody receiving this alert could donate as little as $25, we would be able to continue full speed ahead against the Emanuel/Cullerton attacks on your gun rights. If you don’t step up to help protect your rights, nobody else will!

Rapidly losing our WWII veterans and the Pearl Harbor veterans were there the opening day of that war. Many had already served for years in the military before the first shot was fired…

AmmoLand Gun News

AmmoLand Gun News

Wisconsin --(Ammoland.com)- For over 20 years an annual Pearl Harbor survivor ceremony was held in the city of Chicago down at the Navy Pier on the waterfront.

The then Mayor Richard M. Daley was the host and master of ceremonies.

There is however a new mayor for Chicago, Rohm Emanuel, an Obama very liberal democrat, who in his first year in office seemed to forget about our surviving veterans from “the day that will live in infamy,” and I guess the history of defense of this nation.

The 7 December 2011 ceremony was held on Navy Pier but the Mayor did not attend. If the Mayor is a no-show then so is the public and most of the press. This year 2012 there was no attempt to even try to get the Rohm Emanuel to host or even show up to honor the handful of Pearl Harbor veterans still alive and able to attend a ceremony in Northern Illinois.

I have a veteran friend, Chief Petty Officer Joe Triolo USN Retired who stood on the deck of his ship, the USS Tangier and fired his 50 caliber machine gun at Japanese aircraft. He did this for hours as wave after wave of torpedo bombers tried to destroy the entire US fleet tied up at Pearl. Due to his efforts and shooting skills the Tangier was credited with destroying three enemy aircraft that day.

I have known Chief Triolo for a number a years and have attended Pearl Harbor Survivor Association luncheons with him, but those have ended because the Association officially disbanded last year. There are so few survivors left and sadly for the most part they are not in good enough health to keep attending meetings.

I drove Chief Triolo to the last remembrance ceremony held in Chicago in 2011. The 7 December 2012 Pearl Harbor remembrance ceremony was held in exile, in suburban Des Plaines, Illinois. Instead of being at water’s edge or at a veteran memorial site it was held in a nursing home.

The location and the fact that Chicago forgot the veterans was sad, but Rick and Bob Miller were the heroes of the day. Rick and Bob are the sons of a now deceased Pearl Harbor survivor. These two men have been the backbone in keeping the Northern Illinois chapter of the Pearl Harbor Survivor Association going for years. They stepped up and made the 2012 ceremony happen when the second largest city in the nation could not manage to even show up.

Months of planning came together at a great indoor (and very warm) ceremony. Great Lakes Naval Base did the ceremony proud. They provided an honor guard rifle team, a color guard to present the flags, and a small band. Captain Randall Lynch the commander of Great Lakes (forty miles north of Chicago) was one of the speakers.

I had the honor of being the other speaker at the ceremony. I spoke about my friend Chief Triolo and his best friend, Donald R. McCloud from back home in West Virginia. Both mean had served on the USS Oklahoma in 1937-38. Chief Triolo had left the Oklahoma to serve on two other ships. Donald McCloud had served all his time in the Navy on the Oklahoma and died on that ship on 7 December 1941 when is was sunk at Pearl Harbor. McCloud was never to be recovered after the ship was re-floated and the water pumped out.

My contact with Chief Triolo first happened after I wrote a poem about the USS Oklahoma, sent it to my father (a retired Navy Master Chief) who passed it on to Chief Triolo.

There was suppose to be another survivor at the 2012 ceremony who also lost his best friend, John M. Mulick from back home in Elma, Iowa when the USS Oklahoma was sunk. Former Chief Petty Officer Dean Garrett of Freeport, Illinois was unable at the last minute, due to heath reasons to attend the ceremony.

Again we are rapidly losing our WWII veterans and the Pearl Harbor veterans were there the opening day of that war. Many had already served for years in the military before the first shot was fired.

I recently spoke to Chief Triolo at his home in Waukegan, Illinois, he is 93 years old. I am planning on taking the Chief to the 2013 Pearl Harbor ceremony this year. I am assuming the Miller brothers and the US Navy will once again come through to honor and remember these who perished that day and those who survived to continue the fight.

It is getting harder and harder to “Remember Pearl Harbor” especially in Chicago, Illinois.

BELLEVUE, WA – -(Ammoland.com)- Anti-gun Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel is taking his demagoguery to a new level by attempting to coerce banks into refusing service to firearms manufacturers, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms said today.

CBS News in Chicago reported that Emanuel was pressuring two major banks, identified as Bank of America and TD Bank, to stop lines of credit to Smith & Wesson and Sturm, Ruger, two of the largest gun makers in the industry. In letters to bank executives, Emanuel reportedly said he wanted to send a message to gun makers that they must buckle under to gun control measures being pushed by the Obama administration.

“This is outrageous,” said CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb. “Mayor Emanuel is acting like a Chicago gangster instead of a public servant, and we are very concerned that there might be legal ramifications. How dare the mayor engage in this kind of anti-gun lobbying effort, trying to cut off operating capital to a pair of perfectly legal companies that happen to be engaged in perhaps the most heavily-regulated business in the country.

“Gun owners and people who believe in the Bill of Rights should stop giving Chicago a line of credit by purchasing municipal bonds,” he added. “Rahm wants to send a message, and the nation should send him a reply.

“Mayor Emanuel is allegedly contending that lines of credit should dry up unless Smith & Wesson and Sturm, Ruger submit to operating their businesses the way anti-gunners demand,” Gottlieb continued. “That conduct seems more in the realm of a street thug than a political leader, but then, again, we’re talking about a mayor who presides over a city with Draconian gun laws and a murder rate rivaling a Third World country.

Emanuel is a career anti-gunner who served in both the Clinton and Obama administrations, typically as point man on some kind of gun control effort.

“Mayor Emanuel seems to be under the illusion that he can force banks to act as his surrogates in an unrelenting campaign to crush the firearms industry and erase the Second Amendment,” Gottlieb said. “This is insidious and we hope the banks recognize it for the kind of below-the-belt political chicanery for which Chicago politicians have become famous. No wonder they sometimes refer to him as ‘The Godfather’.”

BELLEVUE, WA – -(Ammoland.com)- The Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms today congratulated Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) for a letter he sent to bank officials and two major firearms manufacturers that blasts the strong arm tactics of Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, who is pressuring the banks to cut off lines of credit to gun makers.

In his letter to officials at Bank of America and TD Bank, and the CEOs of Sturm, Ruger and Smith & Wesson, Sen. Cruz observed, “We (in Texas) do not accept the notion that government officials should behave like bullies, trying to harass or pressure private companies into enlisting in a political lobbying campaign.” He sent a copy of the letter to Mayor Emanuel.

“We really appreciate Sen. Cruz for weighing in on this controversy,” said CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb, who issued a blistering critique of Emanuel’s demagoguery earlier Tuesday. “He’s got the kind of backbone one expects of a Texan, and he’s drawn a line in the sand that’s every bit as bold as the one Col. Travis drew at the Alamo.”

Cruz pulled no punches in his remarks to Emanuel. He asserted that the Chicago mayor’s efforts “call into doubt the claims of President Obama and Washington Democrats that they do not seek to strip Americans of our Second Amendment rights.” The senator also noted to Emanuel that, “Your continued anti-gun crusade may well cause some to wonder if the interests of the citizens of Chicago are being sacrificed in pursuit of a partisan agenda.”

Gottlieb called Emanuel’s pressure on the banks an “outrage,” and suggested that it was more in line with the tactics of a street thug than a public official. Sen. Cruz reminded Emanuel that his actions could directly impact the rights of Texas citizens to keep and bear arms.

“Sen. Cruz asked Mayor Emanuel to ‘keep his efforts to diminish the Bill of Rights north of the Red River’,” Gottlieb observed. “We think Emanuel’s tactics have no place on American soil. What he’s trying is tantamount to political racketeering, and we’re delighted that Ted Cruz has called him out.”

Chicago Shooting Spree, Day 30: 42 Killed So Far

Washington DC - -(Ammoland.com)- The number of homicides in Chicago for January stands at 42, and the month isn’t over.

This makes it “the most deadly January in more than ten years.”

The most recent of the 42 homicides was the Tuesday murder of a 15-year old girl who took part in Obama’s second inauguration. The girl, Hadiya Pendleton, was standing with a group of friends in Vivian Gordon Harsh Park when a gunman ran up, opened fire, then fled the scene.

In short, while gun control proponents in Chicago promise peace and safety, it seems they are actually on the verge of delivering another year like 2012–a year in which more than 440 school age children were shot and wounded and 500 homicides were committed.

Chicago is the gun-control capital of America, yet NBC News accurately describes it as “bullet-scarred.”

Bank of America: ‘You Shouldn’t Be Selling Guns on the Internet’

Washington DC - -(Ammoland.com)- Amid Chicago Mayor Emanuel’s recent push to get Bank of America, other banks, and various mutual funds to divest from gun companies, Breitbart News thought the timing was right to sit down with Joe Sirochman of American Spirit Arms (ASA).

We talked to him about the way Bank of America treated his company shortly after the heinous crime at Sandy Hook Elementary took place.

ASA is a Scottsdale AZ-based manufacturer of custom AR-15 rifles and pistols.  And as Sirochman will tell you the first time you meet him, “ASA is an American company making guns for Americans.”

Sirochman says his company is set up so that customers can come into the showroom to buy a weapon or they can purchase it over the internet. (Guns go through an FFL either way and a NICS background check is involved either way).

He said that once Democrats began talking gun control in the days after the heinous crime at Sandy Hook Elementary–ASA’s online orders jumped exponentially. In one four day period ASA sold the same amount of guns they usually sell in four months.

Each online order requires a deposit. And normally, these deposits went through Bank of America and appeared in ASA’s account within 24 hours. But this time, Sirochman noticed no money was hitting his account. He waited 48 hours from the start of the sales boom and then called the bank. They told him it sometimes takes up 48 hours to get the money so he told them he had already waited longer than that.

They then told him they were reviewing the deposits, and it could be another 48 hours.

Sirochman waited but never got his money. Days passed when the first deposit should have hit his account, and sales were still screaming but no money was coming in. He finally had to turn off the website, just because he was shipping out orders for which he’d received no funds.

Here’s what Sirochman said happened next:

We’d just been talking to our local Bank of America branch up till this time. Now we had to call merchant services. This entailed spending hours on the phone just to get to a live person and get transferred to what they believed was the right department.

When we finally got to the right person in merchant services, we found out the ASA deposits were sitting on someone’s desk for review due to the fact that the amount was so much larger than normal.

Sirochman told the individual that withholding the funds was unacceptable and that “it was clear the larger deposits were due to a larger number of individuals ordering weapons.” He said he told the Bank of America rep, “You need to release these funds.”

The rep said the folder had been passed on to a supervisor, so Sirochman contacted that supervisor, who he says told him over the phone: “We believe that you shouldn’t be selling guns and parts on the internet.”

Sirochman said he reminded the supervisor that he’d been making and selling guns for 10 years. That he followed every law–both at the national and state level–and that he was regularly audited by the ATF.

He said the Bank of America supervisor responded by simply saying, “It’s in our policy that we can withhold the funds indefinitely for any reason that we want.”

Following this, Sirochman began publicizing the way Bank of America was treating him. And after three weeks of viral videos, news interviews, and Facebook shares, the public outcry caught up with Bank of America and they finally gave Sirochman his money.

But it took three weeks, rather than 48 hours.

Needless to say, ASA isn’t with Bank of America any longer–they took their business to a local bank that doesn’t have a problem with American owned businesses making products that Americans want and need.

Every gun owner in America needs to withdraw all of their money from the banks and put it in a local credit union.

His tactics seem to have worked with Bank of America, as shown by recent reports of manufacturers’ having their accounts closed .

Rahm Emanuel is a facist. I have a better nickname for him: Little Hitler. The audacity of him approaching the banking industry and even suggesting that they alter their business policies to tow the line with his and Obi-wan-Obama’s gun control policies is beyond words.

Suppose arms and ammunition makers, distributors, and importers in this country decided to stop production and fulfillment of all government contracts in protest over the damage the proposed legislation will do to their employees, their stockholders, their manufacturing capacity, ability to retain skilled workers (the latter two essential when the nation goes to war), etc.?

What would happen if the USMC couldn’t get its new Colts? Or if local PDs couldn’t their S&W M&Ps, SIGs, Glocks, etc? If the Army couldn’t get its FNC-made weapons? What if the supply of ammo dried up on the government? What if local PDs were denied access to ranges and other training facilities? What if firearms trainers stopped providing training to police and military personnel (they’d open a lot of slots for civilians in their classes – I know most training facilities are booked solid well in advance and there are long waiting lists of civilians trying to get into them)?

If they made such a move, they could explain that they don’t appreciate their products becoming whipping-posts for legislators who are trying to make points by instituting “feel good” but “do nothing” legislation that stigmatizes their products and their customers.

We stand behind them, they should stand behind us. Those in the industry that continued to supply government with arms, ammo, and training could be boycotted by the consumer.

I hate to break it to you, but we are living under tyranny. This government will not last. It will colapse under the weight of its own folly.

Iceland threw out their entire government, and installed a completely different government. They created a national bank and threw out the corrupt banking establishment which had brought them to the brink of financial ruin.

They defaulted on their national debt, and said that it was the government and bankers who created the debt, and that the people did not owe it. They basically said you made this debt, now you pay it.

And now they have recovered completely and are already begining to prosper.

It was a complete revolution and no guns were fired. I doubt we will be so lucky, but it can be done.

Does preparing for a 3-gun competition constitute a “bulk purchase”? I guess I’ll have to wait 3 months and then the match will be over. LOL
